As a reminder to all: Although the problems created by our modern way of life seem intrenched and insurmountable, each one of us really can make a difference. Although each little action doesn't seem to make a dent, they make a cumulative difference. Again, this is another example of each individual making a choice for the greater good. The more of us who care, the stronger our force of change becomes.
Your one small voice, your one small action, really will change the world.
Next, it isn't always easy living according to our beliefs. Most of us choose the path of least resistance when it comes to many day to day choices. It's easier to reach for the paper napkins instead of reusing cloth ones. It's easier to jump in our cars than to wait for a bus. It's easier to toss the recyclable can instead of carrying the empty around with us until we find a recycling bin.
It's not easy to change our habits to conform with our ideals.
Yet this is exactly what is required of us, whether it be easy or not. To live according to our spiritual truths requires us to "walk the talk". We're betraying our own inner sense of abiding truth when we ignore what we know to be true. And like an insidious disease, this undermines the very foundations of our deeper selves. You are no longer living in harmony with what you hold to be true. You are false to yourself. That is a spiritual tragedy.
So although it isn't easy to change our ecological impact habits, the stakes are high both globally and personally. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Do it consistently. Do whatever you can. Take a stand when confronted with attitudes or behaviors that harm this planet we share. Speak up. Vote. Don't be ashamed to pick up trash in public, and make eye contact with people when you do so. Support ecological causes in your local community. Be aware. Care.
And Be Blessed...
