"Don't Feed The Trolls"
   How to Respond When Provoked...

Almost every Pagan I’ve ever met has come across a fundamentalist Christian who feels it is his solemn duty to preach the love of the “true” God by harassing us for our beliefs and threatening us either in this life or the next.  The anonymity of the internet is prime feeding grounds for these people, who thrive on the conflict they raise.  They hunt the chat rooms and community forums, leaving provocative messages or sending nasty emails.  They are commonly called “Trolls”.

I know intolerance can be irritating, but it takes two to have a conflict. When some boneheaded fool spouts off clueless drivel, simply raise your eyebrow, shake your head in wonder, hit the delete key, and move on with your life. If you feed into it and respond, the fundy gets what he wants, which is to make you lose your cool.

Clearly he's not acting according to the irrefutable wisdom of Jesus (an undeniably cool dude in my book...). So why waste your breath arguing with a person who can't even understand his own religion properly?

Go ahead and share your clever arguments against that kind of proseltyzing with your fellow Pagans... I'm always amused by bible quotes that makes a fundy choke on his own bile... but don't ever waste a single thought on the idea that you might actually change the mind of that kind of person.

Just be amazed at the enormity of their ignorance. They might learn someday, but we're the wrong teachers.
