Owl Defines “Witch”

Being a Witch is NOT being the winner of a popularity contest. Being a Witch is NOT always "politically correct". Being a Witch has nothing to do with hair color, body piercings, cloak colors, or choice of candle scents. Being a Witch has nothing to do with RELIGION, or Ethnic background, or Sexual Preference, or choice of lifestyle.

BEING A WITCH IS BEING AWARE OF ALL THAT SURROUNDS US!

Having said that <G> ... I will tell you that I am aware of other Witches. Other Witches are aware of me. We operate on a different wavelength ... and it is VISIBLE ... yet I can't tell you what it looks like.

Over the years, I've met many in the Pagan Community who call themselves witches. Some are, some aren't. We do not all practice the same RELIGIONS. We don't all live in the same type of house, or have the same type of job, or express ourselves in the same way. Some of us don't even realize how "Witchy" we are <G> ... but we're learning! <G>

Some of us are healers, some are diagnosticians. Some are scribes, and some are organizers.  Some are talented, and some are appreciators of talent. Some are crafty, some are sly, some are generous, and some are self serving. Some are teachers, and some will be perpetual students.  (Most good teachers are also students) Some are egocentric, and some are selfless ... (neither extreme is attractive to me), and all of us can be any or all of the above at any given time.

Most of us carry a built in "Bull sh*t Meter". Just as we carry our own shovels. Most of us find life Wonder FULL... and although we are adaptable, we are certainly not door mats. Our Craft teaches us to find pleasure in the dance of life. Even when we don't know the steps, we can enjoy the wild abandon of movement. Even when we're tone deaf, we can raise our voices in song.  And when we are upset, we can cry, bitch, moan, groan, and enjoy our angry energy.

We may suffer fools, but not gladly, and not for long. We can be polite, and socially correct when we need to. We can move in many circles, and all levels of society. We are not excluded, for we know how to go about even outside of our comfort levels. We need not conform to others, for we enjoy our solitude as well as our community.

Witches own it all ... and with ownership comes responsibility. So we recognize each other ... not because we are alike, but because we are each of us unique ... and we like it that way.
