Wiccans generally believe in reincarnation. As in so many things, Wiccans find support for this belief from the Earth. We observe the seasons throughout the year, and mark the harvest cycles of life and death. A common Wiccan chant illustrates this belief:
Hoof and horn, hoof and horn, all that dies shall be reborn.
Corn and grain, corn and grain, all that falls shall rise again.
Death and rebirth are seen as mere events in a larger cycle of life. Reincarnation is the mechanism by which we perfect our souls.
We believe that we were born into this particular lifetime to learn specific things, or to accomplish certain tasks. We travel through each life accumulating experiences that we carry with us, on a deep spiritual level, into our next life. After death, the spirit rests in a place of beauty, often referred to as The Summerlands, as it contemplates its next journey through life.
