What Ceremonial objects do you use?

There are many sacred tools available to the Witch. The purpose of a tool is to help the Witch connect with and direct energy in ritual. These may vary widely from tradition to tradition, but some of the more common items are:

Chalice (representing Element of Water)
Candles (Element of Fire)
Incense or feathers (Element of Air)
Pentacle or Rocks/Crystals (Element of Earth)
Athame (pronounced Ah_THAH_may, associated with either fire or air) a double edged small knife, used for directing energy and for creating spells. Some might also use it for cutting herbs, but the sacred blade is NEVER used as a weapon.
Wands (associated with either fire or air) to direct personal energy
Staff (to direct and ground energy)
Sword (to direct energy and cast circles)

...and anything else lying around that might be useful in making a symbolic connection to the work they are doing. “Kitchen Witches” are especially recognized for making magick using common, mundane items.

Remember, the magick comes from the Witch, not the tool. Fancy or expensive ceremonial objects are still only tools after all. It doesn’t matter whether your wand is a stick you found while outdoors, or a gem encrusted masterpiece of art. It’s how you use it to direct energy that makes it a magickal tool.

There's a photo album at the Firepit that shows some of these tools.
