Tarot is a very popular form of divination within the Wiccan community. Although the ultimate origins of Tarot remain shrouded in mystery, their undeniable popularity explains their five hundred year history.
The 78 cards in a Tarot deck contain images that tell the story of a journey from ignorance to enlightenment. Each image on each card is a piece of that story. When the cards are laid out in a spread, the personal story of the reader is revealed. The images can help the reader clarify issues that surround him or her, and see solutions that will lead to greater happiness.
I own and use several different Tarot decks. I've studied the traditional interpretations of the cards enough to be familiar with them all, then threw away the little book. I meditate upon the imagery and symbolism of the cards, and allow the "answers" to come to me as a sense of inner knowing. I don't believe that the cards tell me the answers... they are merely a tool by which I can figure out the answers for myself. Like all successful divination techniques, they tap into our own deep inner knowing, or "higher knowledge".
