- Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
- A modern classic of Pagan literature, and beloved by many. This novel retells the Arthurian legend from the perspective of the women involved, offering a fresh new vision of the history of the Goddess in Britain. This author has my blanket endorsement... Id read anything by her.
- The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk
- A powerful revisioning of the future. In this novel, Starhawk imagines what the world might look like if our current political and social climate continues unchecked, and what might happen if a small group of Pagans radically decided to change things.
- Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
- Tells the story of the God Pan, and offers an explanation of how the ancient Gods might still be interacting with us today. Hysterically funny and intensely thought-provoking at the same time. This author has my blanket endorsement as well... Id read anything by him.
- The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
- A thought-provoking and riveting adventure through a secret history of the early Catholic church and the formation of Western Culture as we now know it. Read a review here.
- The Chronicles of the Deryni by Katherine Kurtz
- This is a series of novels which explores the conficts between the early Catholic church and the older Pagan beliefs, as well as providing thought-provoking descriptions of the theories and use of magick. This author also has my blanket endorsement... Id read anything by her.
- The Tales of Valdemar by Mercedes Lackey
- This is a series of many novels by this popular Pagan author. These novels explore magick in context of the community, and how it is perceived and used. This prolific author has penned many novels, nearly all dealing with Pagan, Wiccan, and/or magickal themes, and all are recommended. This author is one of my all-time-favorite writers, and so also has my blanket endorsement... Id read anything by her, as well.
- Cat Magic by Whitley Strieber
- Although initially marketed as a "horror" novel, deals with a modern coven of witches who are trying to lead their lives quietly amid a conservative community.
- The Horse Goddess by Morgan Llywelyn tells the ancient tale of Epona, daughter of a Celtic tribe, whose love of horses eventually becomes the basis of the legend of the Goddess of the same name. This author also has my blanket endorsement... Id read anything by her, too.
