    • The Occult: A History by Colin Wilson
    This is a dense, intellectual dissertation exploring human consciousness. With an astounding depth of analysis, this book seeks to prove that humans possess an undeveloped sixth sense, which will lead humans to their next level of evolution.

    The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird.
    (ISBN: 0-380-00088-1)
    According to the front cover of the book, it says it is "A fascinating account of the physical, emotional, and spiritual relations between plants and man." The back cover says "Your ordinary house and garden plants - the carrot you peel, the philodendron you water daily - possess extraordinary powers. Here's the whole wild, unbelievable, true story: plants that can feel emotions... diagnose diseases... act as lie detectors... read minds... plants with hitherto untapped powers of communications."  I read it a long time ago, and I recall it being very comprehensive on the subject. (To the point of dryness... it's such an interesting subject, too.) The bibliography alone is eighteen pages long. This book was on the best-seller lists for a long time, and had a big impact on plant research.
