| Here's my first real Doumbek... a ceramic drum with a mylar head and a rust colored glaze on the body. Note the distinctive rounded edge to the drum head, which allows the player to find that "sweet spot" on the rim for a crisp, high "tek" note. Unfortunately, this baby took a tumble around the firepit, and the base cracked against the ring of stones. I have it glued back together, and she still has a beautiful voice, but I no longer travel with her. |
