| I was playing with some sculpy (an oven-baked modeling clay) while reading Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy to my family. I was inspired to create a leaf-bladed athame after those made by the Elves of Lothlorien. Once baked, I painted it to resemble the birch trees that have special significance for me. I also placed a smoky quartz crystal in the base. I like this athame a lot, particularly since, made from sculpy, there is no way this blade could be misconstrued as a weapon, and it isn't sharp enough to harm anyone. The down-side is that it needs to be treated gently. One of our cats likes to nap on my altar, and his big bony butt broke the blade recently. :( |
