It was confusing to me
as I aspired to lead a
sinless life
and it was my belief I had.
They say my great sin
is that I do not follow
their faith
and their god.
They say my great sin
is that I do not go
to their cold stone places
and worship their words.
"Where is my sin,"
I ask, "when I have
faith and I have
found God?"
I have found my God
in all that lives.
That powerful
mysterious force
which drives roots into soil
and springs petals from the stem.
I have felt this
Great Force
forever winding in circles,
spinning the cycles of nature.
I have not seen their
Almighty God
whose powerful hand
strikes down one while
uplifting another.
I have found
my peace of mind
in the assurance
of continued life.
There I have found
my faith and strength
and for that
I’ll gladly remain damned.
