It all began
innocently enough;
this search I mean,
this burning.
When asked to define
Religion
I did not know.
I was forced to think
about what religion was,
and what I thought,
and I did not know.
Like all good students do
I'm told
I went to Merriam and Webster.
:Religion is a belief or cause
held to with faith and ardor.
how nice.
So what is faith?
:a system of religious beliefs.
That makes it clear.
Ardor was the only word
that broke this neat circle.
:a warmth of feeling- zeal.
"zeal" I found was
:an eager and ardent interest
in the pursuit of
something.
And with Zeal
I began my pursuit.
