Dear Friends and Family -

Happy Litha!  As I write this, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and the breeze is carrying the scent of fresh cut grass through my window.  Ah!  Blissful summer!

This is a busy time of year for many of us, as our energy and enthusiasm carries us through many projects and adventures that have been waiting for the warmer weather.  It’s been a busy time around the Firepit as well.  From Beltane through Litha, many new people have warmed their hands around the fire.  It makes my heart glad.

I’ve got tons of new pages to add this time around.  As a result of feedback from friends and strangers alike, I’ve decided to extend the photo section.  I’ve been pawing through my rock collection and taking pictures for the past several weeks, and the results appear in an entirely new album called “Stones”.  It currently features 14 different photo arrangements of crystals and minerals in the main album.  I’ve also created a “Stone Directory” page that has thumbnails and descriptions of an additional 16 stones.  It was a big project, but I think you'll like the results.

Other photos include a photo of our outdoor stone altar in the “Altars” album, this year’s maypole in the “Tools” altar, and a gorgeous photo of a white peony for the “Inspirational” album.  My gardens have been blooming beautifully, so I restrained myself by not adding even more photos.  Expect to see more of those lovely blossoms in the depth of winter.  What can I say?... I’m inspired by beauty.

Aside from photos, I’ve added additional pages of food for thought for your pleasure.  I’d like to direct your attention to the Community Knowledge chapter, where Owl, one of our wise (& wise-ass) crones, offers us her definition of “witch”.

In the Meditation & Magick chapter, I’ve added suggestions on how to develop a closer working relationship with the elements in “Elements Meditations”.  In the Sacred Writings section, I’ve added two new poems.  “Death” is a brief exploration and affirmation of this profound transition.  “Early Summer” is an ode to the lushness of the season of growth.

In the Humor chapter, I’ve added a chatroom initiation that shows how ridiculous the thought of a “virtual” initiation really is.  This one has made the rounds via email for quite some time now, but has enduring chuckles.  Speaking of humor, I’ve also added a link to the Puppet Lady, an extremely hysterical woman who views the world through her own discordian lens.  I’m honored to call her friend. And speaking of Discordians, a member of the Firepit crew passed on a link to the complete “Principia Discordia”, the underground manifesto of the discordian movement.  If you’re seeking to understand discordians, this link won’t help you.  But if you’re seeking enlightenment via a whoopie cushion, this might just do the trick.

So there you go.  There’s now plenty more things to do at the Firepit.  This update sees the Firepit passing the 400 page mark!  The site has grown far beyond what I ever thought it would become, and I thank each and every one of you for offering me the support and encouragement I needed to make it happen.  I owe you all my deepest thanks.  Namaste.
