Dear Friends and Family -
Good Mabon! The season of abundant harvest is upon us! It has been a stormy autumn for many people, and yet it's uplifting to see us all somehow still finding reason to rejoice in the harvest at hand. I hope you are all reveling in the abundant harvest of your own labors, and finding many reasons to celebrate.
I find that writing these update letters is the hardest part of updating the Firepit at each Sabbat. My general philosophy behind the Firepit is to let the fates guide folks to whatever it is they need from it. I’m dedicated to being a pen for the gods, and the Firepit is Their tool. I truly believe that each and every page is created for someone in particular... someone I’ll probably never even meet. I leave it up to the God and Goddess to do the steering, I just light a lamp to see by.
When it comes to these update letters, where I share what’s new, I always hate how much is sounds like advertising. These letters aren’t a promotional device. All I want to do is let you know what things have been added, because you never know, one of those pages might have been written for you. Maybe when you pass it on, it finds its way to whoever needs it next. Serendipity swirls around the firepit!
So without further ado, here’s a quick list of the pages added to each chapter:
F.A.Q.: Shamanic Wicca, Initiation - These pages were written for workshop brochures I created for the workshops I’ll be presenting at the Eastern Mass Pagan Pride Day.
Philosophy: Mighty Dead - Here’s a sneak peek of an article appearing in the upcoming Samhain issue of Elements Magazine, about the importance of honoring our ancestors.
Practice: Re-Treat Yourself - Here’s the intro of the article I wrote for the August update of the Llewellyn Journal. It’s about the importance of spiritual retreats, and how you can fit them into even very busy lives. The rest of the article can be found at their site.
Anecdotes: Auntie Ethel - I was recently asked to share the story of my Great Aunt, whose love reached beyond the veil.
Humor: Eris Invocation, Flying Spell - The invocation to Eris isn’t really a joke, but an actual Discordian ritual... but all Discordian related stuff goes into the humor chapter, just to keep you properly confused. The Flying Spell is definitely a humorous way to approach air travel in the modern age.
Photos- Altars: Ancestor Altar - This is a photo of a “Dumb Supper”, typically held at Samhain, which accompanies the “Mighty Dead” article.
Sacred Writings- Poetry: Air Meditations - The fourth installation in the Elements series. I’m now spending a moon cycle connecting with Spirit, so that piece is still forthcoming.
About Flame: Publishing Credits, Testimonials - Routine housekeeping on these pages. I certainly love to add compliments to the Testimonials page! It reminds me why I spend so much time on this, whenever I’m feeling discouraged. Thanks, guys. It really means a lot.
