Dear Friends and Family -

For the first time ever, I’ve wasn’t able to update the Firepit by the sabbat.  My computer crashed on update day, causing me to spend several days reloading all my software.  Then there was the election... *sigh* Ah yes, the American Presidential election.  As a devout liberal progressive, I have carried a heavy heart since election day.  It’s taken me several days to shake the dismay and reaffirm my resolve to work for a better future.

This Samhain update has several new pages that fit the mood of season.  “Election Magic” describes the magical working I did on the lunar eclipse just prior to Samhain.  Although it describes magic, I ended up sticking it in the Commentary section, since the object of the rite was political.

“Blood Magic” talks about the sensitive subject of blood rites.  Unless you’re willing to risk running up against a lot of old negative stereotypes, this isn’t for you.

On a lighter note, a new joke called “Kittens” landed in the humor chapter.  I’ve needed all the humor I could get lately.  With the year turning toward Yule, I also post “The Eve of Midwinter” for your enjoyment.  It’s a PG-13 retelling of “The Night Before Christmas”.  Enjoy.

I’m honored to be able to share a beautiful account of a Shamanic Journey by Little RavenSword.  It’s a personal journey with a universal quality, and I thank her deeply for allowing me to share it with you in the Community Knowledge chapter.

Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude to Pathwalkers.Net for selecting the Firepit to receive their “2004 Crone Award”.  It’s a lovely gesture, and I appreciate the nod of approval.

And thanks to you, my friends, family, and guests around the Firepit.  Your caring and supportive attitude keeps me going.  Namaste.
