February 2, 2008  Major Imbolc Update and Housekeeping
Over the last few months, the entire Firepit site has been redesigned, tweaked, modified, optimized, tuned up, renovated, and ... well, you just have to examine every nook and cranny to see all the improvements. In many cases, the changes are incredibly small, but trust me, they are there.

But, as always, you'd better bookmark this page now ...
you know you'll never get through it all in one sitting!

New Life Stirring at the Firepit

Happy Imbolc! Like the groundhog, I finally poke my head up and check for signs of new life. Yes! I see the ice melting, hear the water flowing, smell the soil softening, and sense the seeds are stirring. Spring is coming - the end of winter is nigh!

Life is stirring at the Firepit, as well. I'm thrilled to announce that after two years of stasis, the Firepit will finally see an update! I have been working with a fabulous web designer, Karen Jarman, who has updated the code for the entire website, all 450+ pages. Phew! This has been the painstaking work of the past several months, and I'm very happy with the final results. The new Firepit should resemble the old Firepit in theme, content, and organization, but the clunky frames have finally been eliminated from the site design and the menu navigation has been streamlined. Karen has made many changes both big and small to improve the experience of visitors. With all these changes, you should notice that the Firepit loads much faster as well.

Now that the structure has been updated, I expect that I'll be able to resume adding new content in the weeks and months to come. Over the past two years, most of my energy and attention was directed at completing my master's degree. Since I earned my master's, I have been incredibly busy with my new teaching job. However, nothing can ever completely keep me away from writing new material, and I look forward to sharing it with you soon.

I want to thank all of you who take the time to let me know that you've found value in what I've shared. In the past two years, each time I've considered retiring the site, I've received a message from a visitor thanking me for the Firepit. I can't tell you just how inspired I am from your feedback. It reaffirms for me that I should keep doing what I am doing, since the Firepit seems to be a positive force for change for so many. Just today, in fact, I received an email from Mary P. who wrote,

"I totally love your direct approach to teaching. So few come right out with it and explain exactly what they mean. Thank you so much for being who you are and doing what you have done."

I have lived off such warm words over the past two years as I was caught up in the swirl of grad school. I hope to start paying back that kindness by offering new material soon. Thank you all for your continued support and friendship.

Namaste
~Flame
